Welcome

Welcome to our 2020-2021 school year here at the John Adams Academy.  I will be teaching high school Algebra 2 this year, and Honors Physics.  Room 217 (across from Mr. Sabin - Science) is my main classroom for Algebra 2, and 202 is the location of Honors Physics.  However, if my scholars have any need for after school tutoring, I can be found in room 217.  I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.
 
The world is alive with math, and exploration, and my goal is to make math and physics a great learning experience.  Some of the resources I've discovered will have links posted near the bottom of this page. Most connect classical readings, or further readings from notable individuals (i.e., Benjamin Franklin, Newton, Robert Hooke; etc.) to the subjects I teach. However, it can be a separate journey of exploration and self-discovery for any scholar, and at any age.

  • 4th Period - Algebra 2.
  • 5th Period - Algebra 2.
  • 6th Period - (H) Physics.
  • 7th Period - Athenaeum.
 
A / B Alternating Friday's
 
Office Hour (Tuesday's)
  • 3 pm to 4 pm.
 
 
 
Staff meetings may change my availability (sometimes without prior notice).  Check the door, or before you leave class.  I have "Traffic Duty" at different times, throughout the school years, in front of the Washington Building.  This might effect tutoring times or days.
 
 
 
Grading Percentages :
 
I've frequently received questions about how grades are weighted. Please access your syllabus for that information. Grades are posted in Aeries.
 
 
Scholars are strongly encouraged to have homework turned in on the day it is due (or by the time provided in the JAA Handbook, when they return from an illness or any JAA activity or field trip).
 
Scholars are strongly urged to show their work!  I learn a great deal from my scholars, and showing your work is part of your "Scholar Empowered Learning," and your exercise of "Self-Governance, Personal Responsibility and Accountability." 
 
ONLINE Work:
          • Shall be complete and original!
          • Shall be submitted as a scanned PDF or scanned JPEG to the class Google Drive folder!
          • Shall be treated in the same manner as work handed in directly!
 
 
Scholars should make up any missed quiz or test as soon as possible, and ideally before the next unit (chapter) is complete!   And, once again, I'm always happy to help scholars out, during my drop-in tutoring sessions.
