American Classical Education™

John Adams Academies, Inc. has developed an educational support system called American Classical Education™.  American Classical Education™ includes all of the academic and operational support services that enable the implementation of a liberty-based education.  American Classical Education™ is John Adams Academies, Inc.’s unique restoration of the forms and practices for implementing a liberty-based education that led a generation of self-governing citizens to understand the principles of liberty and to establish together a nation unified under those principles.

This begs the questions:

    • How did a generation of pioneer colonists comprehend the principles necessary to establish a republic on their own based on life, liberty, rule of law, etc.?

    • How was it that those colonists could read and understand the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist’s Papers without a centrally-run education system?

    • What led those colonists to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to fight to establish a republic dedicated to liberty and justice for all?

John Adams declared in his retirement years that the American Revolution had primarily taken place in the hearts and the minds of the colonists in the years leading up to 1776. It was that revolution of the heart, mentioned by John Adams, that liberated the minds of the colonists to ultimately give us a nation of liberty.  It is this cultivation of the heart that John Adams Academies, Inc. seeks to reestablish in education.

John Adams stated, “Wisdom and knowledge, as well as virtue, diffused generally among the body of the people [is] necessary for the preservation of their rights and liberties.”  American Classical Education™ provides a liberty-based education system of supports that does more than just prepare a generation for a career but rather empowers a scholar and a mentor to grown in wisdom, knowledge, and virtue in a way that prepares the scholar to preserve our national heritage passed on to us from that founding generation.

As part of that support system, John Adams Academies, Inc. has developed a specific academic model for educating servant leaders, used for all scholars at its various academies, including elementary scholars, secondary scholars, their families, and our staff.  This liberty-based American model of learning, referred to as American Classical Leadership Education®, develops a scholar through the liberal arts in pursuit of truth and the practice of virtue and wisdom in causes greater than self.  This is done through the guidance of our 10 Core Values, mentors, and classics.
